stay sexy, don’t…
I’ve been sitting on this post for awhile, if I’m honest. The show was over a month ago, but I wanted to wait for the episode to go up so y’all can listen to it too! You might have guessed from the title… in early April – highlight of my year – I got to see Karen and Georgia, live, when My Favorite Murder came to Indy! And did it rock my world? Yasss.
For those of you not in the know, My Favorite Murder (or MFM) is one of the top-chartiest podcasts in recent memory. Hosted by Karen (40-something, sarcastic, sassy, quick-witted, loves British tv) and Georgia (30-something, quirky, cooks, adorable vintage style and mama to the world’s cutest cats), the show (is it a show? The… ‘cast?) recaps 2 murders each episode, from memory, and lots of swearing and reacting happens, and hilarity absolutely always ensues.
Now, I do have to say I get some very funny looks when I try to describe MFM to people, and explain that it’s not gratuitous or scary or gross – I guess in a lot of ways it’s still not socially acceptable to admit to liking true crime? On the flip side of that, the few people who have known about our ‘local’ serial killer (listen to the episode from Indy, to hear about our boy Herb) are all SO excited to chat about it and share their version of the story, their personal connection etc. My hairdresser’s husband played in the woods where the bodies were found, for example, and we run past the house/land whenever we do a 5+ mile run. It’s the most stunning property with lots of land, horses, timber frames, etc – I about fell over the first time B and I ran past, I was trying to hard to get a good look at the place – it’s terribly ‘English Countryside’, which isn’t something you see much of in Suburban Midwest. Which reminds me to tell you about my half marathon next time!
Anyway, I hope you keep an open mind and check out MFM. The Indianapolis episode is #67 – Live from the Egyptian Room, but all the episodes are completely lovely. There can be bouts of swearing tho (in a nice way), so probably don’t listen with your kiddos or grandparents. I’ve got lots of other podcasts up my sleeve, I’ll save those for another night! Stay sexy, don’t get murdered.
